I'm going to be buying a PSP in the next few weeks, what I wanted to know was what exactly I needed to get CFW on it.

I'm going to be buying a Pandora battery + magic stick on ebay, and a slim PSP with a 4gb card from a local store.
Alot of sites say I need another PSP with CFW on it, can I just find the files to DL and put it on my stick instead? How big are these files generally? Can I keep my pandora battery seperate, and only use it when I need it, or do I have to always use it, instead of the one my PSP comes with?
Also, how good are the Snes, GBA and Genesis emulators on the PSP?

Sorry for all the questions, I've read a few FAQ's and guides, and they dont really seem to answer these questions, if they do, I'm sorry but I must have missed it :/

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance!

Hi,

To get your Official firmware PSP onto custom firmware is really easy, the only things you need are a Pandora battery and the magic memory stick. A full guide can be found HERE.

You could try a battery from ebay, but i know that a lot of people have had trouble with fake batteries, and even them not arriving. You can get a TOOL battery (which is the same as a pandora) from many reputable sites, suck as amazon...HERE, (or HERE if your in the US).
As for the Magic Memory Stick, the guide linked above will show you exactly how to make it, and its really easy. All you need is a Pro Duo memory stick between 256mb and 2gb, and as a 512b card can be picked up for less than £5, you will probably find it a lot cheaper to buy the battery from amazon and make the MMS yourself rather than buying from ebay.

If you use the guide above, you will not need another PSP with CFW installed. There are 2 files to download, each approx 90mb if i remember correctly. All you have to do is download the .rar files, unzip them and run the program, all is explained clearly in the guide.

You can keep your pandora battery separate, in fact it will not function in pandora mode as a normal battery, so you should use your normal psp battery for general use.

As for the emulators, i have only ever used the DGEN Megadrive/Genesis emulator, and that works perfectly, but as far as i am aware all the others work very well also.
