Hello, Im new to all this PSP hacking, but im experienced in Computers and iPod hacking. I have been looking all over the net, and some of this forum but cant find a definite answer: Is it possible to downgrade your firmware without a second psp with custom firmware. I heard this from friends but am not sure if its true. Like I have no way of getting a second psp so is there a tutorial you know of that can show me how to do this? Ive seen videos on making pandora battery's, but is that only useful if you have a second psp with cfw?
Sorry if im too much of a noob, but bear with me. Thanks, we all start somewhere :p

I think I picked the right link, but I only glanced at the tutorial, and do I need to do that switch on the circuit board, with the blue wire. Also do I need 2 batteries and 2 memory sticks. And is that all I need to do, in that tutorial on the LLamas Game Console Forum, to start playing emulators and having homebrew on my psp? Nothing else? As I said im new to all this so be kind. :p One more thing, can you use the pandora battery as a normal battery after I hard mod it, or does the 5th pin have to be soldered back down to play games and such?

yer the 5th pin does need to be soldered back to make it a normal battery.
you also can have one battery and one memory card but the memory card needs to be less than 4gb.
as for the wiring part ill find you a better tutorial for hard modding i just had a look at one that one and it wasnt as good as this one all you need to do is unsolder or cut the 5th pin as shown

No, once you remove the pin, its done. Pandora wise. And then you would need to make the magic memory stick, which i think requires CFW. Pandora also requires CFW so I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm trying to hack myself.

So after I do the Pandoras battery I do the magic memory stick?
I definantly dont need a second psp with a CFW for anything do I?
And this will help me downgrade to like 1.50 to do all the homebrew hacking and stuff?
Thanks for help so far.

no you dont need cfw to make a magic mem stick if you use the soft mod tutorial at the start it tells you how to make a magic mem stick with the easyinstaller. if you need to connect your memory card using your psp then put the adapter in with out the battery in (if its a panodras battery)

then one you've finished then put your battery in (no ac adapter)and put the memory stick and it should load up.

So power on the PSP without my hardmodded Pandora Battery with my 4gb sandisk stick.

I just want the best possible information I can get. The best guides to use and whatnot. Heck, even Lucifer can read on. :P

^^^ Yeah same, I want to find the easiest and best guides.

Also I have card reader on pc, so can I use that to do all the magic memory card stuff, or does it need to be in the psp while doing it?

I think that's rediculous how 4gb isn't supported. (>_<)

*sigh* More money I have to spend. Luckily 2gb sticks aren't very expensive.

Oh yes, I almost forgot, I dont have time to look through the tutorial but can you answer this, you know the pandora battery, and the way you can solder the pin back to make it normal battery again, do i NEED a second battery as in like, I put the pandora battery in, then remove it and put in the normal battery, then remove that and put in the pandora battery? Or do I use the pandora battery once then thats it? If you get what I mean, as Im tight on money atm.

You can have a 2nd battery as a backup, or you can use that eeprom backup in one of the many guides out there on the web. I'm not sure which guide has the eeprom backup thing.

But seriously, I don't ever recall you having to solder the pin back to the battery.

yer you will have to resolder the pin back down to make it normal again because you put it in service mode when you remove the pin and then you put it back in normal mode when you resolder it.

Lucifier i would check to see if your memory stick are fake because that MIGHT case a problem (i'v never had a problem which games and stuff on my fake 4gb) you can do that by going to the memory stick icon on your psp press triangle and then look to see if it says "magic gate supported: supported" if it says that then there real and not fake if it says unsupported then there fake.

i think you can use the 32mb card sony had when you bought the psp but i dont think it will have enough space for 3.71m33 for the phat.

the fake memory stick might work or might not but i would try to get hold of a 512mb genuine memory stick.
