For some reason, all of my back-up DVD-R movies work on my computer. However, I have two DVD players on my livingroom, when I use the Panasonic one my back-up DVD-R movies often cut or stop playing. Now, when I use my Toshiba DVD player on my livingroom they play flawlessly. Also, when I use the dvd players of my family they too sometimes work and sometimes don't. Any ideas? HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD THIS PROBLEM? Thank you.

If the DVD players are certified to accept the disk type (DVD-R or DVD+R, as examples), then it comes down to how tolerant the players are of minor burning errors on the disks.
If you burn at half the rated speed of the disk on known-to-be-reliable-media, like 'Verbatim', you cut down on the probability of problems cropping up.

I ran into the same problem a while back, some movies would play flawlessly on certain dvd players and completely crap out on others. The problem was that I was using bad media (dynex, memorex, and various generic brands). Stick with verbatim or tayio yuden made in japan/taiwain (not india).

The rule of thumb is to burn at half the rated speed of the disc. My burner is so old the only burn speed is 2.4x (no firmware updates), despite this movies burned on 16x verbatim work perfectly on every player I have.
