I am going to post all the information on this board on here... it looks identical to the GH-061-21 to me...
Model Number: SCPH-79001a
Date Code: 7C
Mother Board: GH-062-02
All Other Information On Board:
PS1 - FCC16 401 AD
PS7 - PCC16 701 AD
F0001 - CCF1N6.3
PS14 - CCP2E50
PS17 - FCC 16132 AD
PS15 - CCP2E100
P S3 PS 11 - CCP2E63
TH8001 - SMD0805P010TF
Mabye this information can be useful for people to match up their board information to this one to see if its the same.
I believe this is a version 16a
Crystal Chip calls a 16a motherboard GH-061-21 but it looks to have the same identical lay out.
I going to install a Crystal Chip 1.2 Lite in this in the next couple weeks.
I know for sure World Chip offers a chip and ModBo has a chip for it but many other forum sites say any SCPH-77001 chip will work on a SCPH-79001. I post what I find so people out there have some information.
Please reply to this thread of any other information you might have on this motherboard or this model number.
Thanks,
Sangre666

Yeah ..I just Modded one with a Crystal Chip ...1.1 ...looks same as the Gh-061 ...but only firmware that I can get to run on it is R19 ...some issues with firmware on Crystal chips end..there so slow fixing problems..and they never answer emails....its been a year now waiting for R35 .... Im pulling the chip .... and not buying more CC's .... seems only Chips that are on top of things are the Clones...LOL... also tried a Matrix chip on this board ..no video on boot up ...

Bought a new ps2 and on the box it says 79001, but the main board is totally different then all the boards now for installing the duo ultra? Can not find any drawings for this new board? Any one else seen this new board? There is no gold contacts beside the main chip on the board? Has anyone seen these or know where to get diagrams?

Ok bud,
You'll have to do some reverse engineering on this but it works for me. Go to this site, http://www.vtec.com.br/thunderproii/diagramas.htm
It is for a different chip, of course, but the points are pretty much the same. I do not see your exact board # in here, but find the one that mostly resembles your MB.
Points that are the same: I, H, G, B, On the large Sony chip.
P,O,N,M,Q,T,U,V,R on the Bios chip.
Ground and 3.3V same for both.
Reset is the same for both.
Points that are different: SCEX of the Thunder = S on the Duo3 Ultra, X on the Thunder = W on the Duo 3 Ultra
If you look at where the X and A points on the Duo 3 Ultra go to the Sony chip, count that many pins over and solder your wires there respectively.
You should now be ready to play!
If there is some confusion, let me know.
Hope that helps!

I don't suppose you know where I could find a diagram for a version 4 PS2? I have a diagram but I think it might be missing the location of the G connection. Thanks.

Since my chip is a Crystal Chip 1.2 the diagram I have is slightly different than the one you have. Many of the letters match up exactly but a few are at different points on the board. For example B and H are next to G in your diagram but they are next to I in mine (I is the same in both diagrams). Also in my diagram, W, R, V, U, T, and Q are pointing to the pins on the BIOS chip (opposite M, N, O, and P) in box 4 rather than the gold connectors as your diagram shows. Are they still connecting to the same signals?

Yes, they go to the same points on the bios chip, just a little easier to solder to the pads rather than the chip.
I'll look for diagrams for your board, I may have some for the CC 2.0 chip which should have the same points.
I'll get back to ya!
