scph 750001 will only play CD based games

I have a scph 750001 ps2 with a crystal chip installed. Have had the chip for several months, and it played all games just fine. Whether they were originals or back-ups. Then it became real picky about playing game back-ups, and my dvd back-ups, and some it would not play at all. Now it will only play games that are CD based originals.. I am stumped, any help would be appreciated.
