I recently bought a new PSP slim, and as always whenever I get anything new I want to fiddle with it... I only have 2 games for it at the moment, so I wanted to download a few CSO's to play. But all of them require a 1.5 firmware!
Mine is 3.71. Ive seen alot of threads telling you how to downgrade to 1 or 1.5, but what I want to know is why do you have to? And wont it affect how my psp runs? The last thing I want to do is break it.
So Why, will it do any damage, and can I upgrade it back to 3.71 if I want or have to?
Thanks!

Use THIS guide to show you how to downgrade...you will need a pandora/TOOL battery and a Magic Memory Stick!

Well, as you have a PSP Slim, You'll need to get your hands on a Pandora Battery And Magic Memory Stick, Which allows to 'upgrade' to a Custom Firmware, which is what all the 'M33' stuff is about, its Customised Firmware.

3.71 M33, which is what i reckon to be the best CFW out so far, has all the same features as a normal 3.71, with the addition that you can play ISOs and CSOs, run homebrew, among other things.

To get Custom Firmware on your Slim, you'll need to go Here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/610313 which will create the magic memory stick.

For a Pandora Battery, if you dont know anyone with a 1.5 PSP or a PSP with Custom Firmware, i'd advise buying one of these http://us.codejunkies.com/Products/PSP-M...__EF000536.aspx
Doesn't need any sort of modifying, and does the job perfectly, i have one of these ^-^

Fat Psp, Bought Day Of Release :D 1.50 > Various Other OFWs > 3.40 > 3.72 > Pandora..=]> 1.50 > 3.52 M33-4 > 3.72 M33-4 > 3.90 M33-2 w/ 1.50 kernel

Slim Psp FINALLY 3.71 > Pandora-fied seconds after leaving the box ^-^ > 3.90 M33-2

Oh dernit... I had heard of the pandora battery, but I was hoping I wouldnt have to buy anything else. So theres no way I can just make the magic memory stick, and not use the pandora/tool battery?

Thank you so much for your help! ^-^ Im so clueless atm.

No im afraid not, just having the memory stick wont work unfortunately.

But trust me, the $25 (or £15) in my case is WELL worth it XD

Well your best bet is to start a new thread with the title something to do with that, and just hope! :D
