This question has been asked too many times:
"Is it possible to get banned if I mod my Xbox 360?"
The simple answer to this is Yes.

On the other-hand, if you are very careful, always make sure you are properly backing up games and stealth checking them properly, you shouldn't get banned.
I have read that many people say that eventually you will get banned if you mod it, it is just a matter of time. On the other hand I have read of people who are running 1.2 firmware and never updated and are fine, but they are always checking for stealth.

The bottom line is: If you [b]don't want to risk getting banned don't mod your Xbox 360.[b]

If your willing to take the chance, and you are careful about it, then it is a great utility to have/use. I'm willing to bet that most people (who did it right) feel it was worth it in the end.

Making a sticky of this might be useful, and cutback on a lot of repetitive posting and replies.

I dont know aboutyou but I have yet to get caught, made all my burns MYSELF and am still on live. Its due to bad burns and stupidity of playing games before rel or doing mods wrong. Other then that its hit or miss, and Im loving it!

what do u mean by checking for "stealth". if i use original games for Live, will i still get banned? i disconnect the network cable when i play burned games just for precaution but when i wanna get onLive then i use orginal discs. any suggestions?

I just saved a bunch on my car insurance by fleeing the scene of the accident.

"Its due to bad burns and stupidity of playing games before rel or doing mods wrong"

LOL, i just love stuff like this. It is not always due to bad burns and stupidity or even modding wrong which in itself is a stupid statement since a console that is modded wrong would not even play back ups. I had a console get banned and i was making all of my games myself with 100% stealth. And there was only one game that i actually played online and it was not one of the games everyone else claimed got them banned.

I have said it too many times before but obviously i will have to say it again. MS WILL eventually get you. Look at the trends with the first Xbox and modding. Do some freakin research. If you modded anything you would get banned. That included modchips, softmods, hard drives, using trainers online and so on. The only way to get online was to set up a dual boot softmod (one boots to modded dash, the other to stock) so that you could boot to the stock dash and use originals online.

Now if they could detect all of those things on that old system, what makes you think that they either can't or are not working on, being able to do it with the 360?

If Steimy got banned and he's our resident modding expert, then we are all doomed.

no, i got banned because i did not care. But i know others like theridges who i believe was also banned who are at the top of their game.

I made my own stealth back ups, but i used 5.2 firmware. I saw people who had the new firmware still getting banned so i said screw it. I just bought a second console (needed an excuse to buy an Elite anyway) and left that one stock for online play since there are very few games that have online stuff that interests me. Right now only Rainbow Six Vegas.

The point really is that as many people want to sit here and tell you that if you follow the rules you will be 100% safe from getting banned. Your not. Unless you work for Microsoft then you have no idea what they can and can not detect. All you do know is that you have not been bannd.....YET.

I follow he trends of what they did in the past. As many new mods as the people could come up with MS found a way to detect them and ban you. They never did find a way around it where you could use back up on XBL. That is why Xlink Kai, XBconnect and Leaf Networks were invented. It gave gamers a place to play online that did not care about your modded system, whether you used a back up, and unfortunately whether you used cheats online.

Exactly Steimy. Some people think they are safe if they Samsung their backups from the originals, they are not.

Bottom line is, there are way too many variables to consider in the banning process...bad disc, bad mod, new updates etc...your taking a risk when you modify ANYTHING in life! because its not the original how its meant to be...could be the smallest thing that makes a difference, or simply bad luck...check your local walmarts for tissue sales if your gonna cry after getting banned! and if you have more than 6 backup games, the cost of them new could purchase your new xbox anyway! so think of yourself as lucky anyways!
