I've just bought a 4GB Sony memory stick off eBay which I suspect is fake (because it was only £15 inc p&p).

Do these fake sticks in any way pose a physical danger to the psp? E.g, are there any cases of stick melting or causing electrical damage?

Also, i know these sticks are more prone to corruption, but are they much slower than the official ones?=d

Had no probs running games off a fake myself. I thought they run faster off any memory stick, fake or kosher, than off the UMD anyway but I might be talking shyte. :P

Fakes are the unknown quantity - Some are good others are bad.

I have had some that work as well as genuine but others have had abysmal read/write speeds, say they are 4gb but only 2gb. problem installing some apps.

Never can tell, but genuine is always better

PsP#1 : 2.01>3.71M33-4>3.80 M33-5
PsP#2 (Slim) : 3.80>3.90M33-2 All hail the UPMS Stck
If you need a UPMS Stick go here and then go here :-) *As recommended by January39
