If that happens I think the annoying guy who bought the HD-DVD player will die first.
... Right before the whiney HD-DVD fanboys who forget the version of DRM they were supporting.
BRING ON THE GOBLINS!!

Isn't HD and horror an oxymoron? The thing about horror movies (or at least the good ones from "the old days") is that they scare you with what you don't see.

Oh - Be Afraid, my friend, Be Very Afraid.....
What you won't see is all the DRM your horror disc has. You won't see your new BluRay player "phoning home" to the Evil Alien Consortium if you followed Sony's advice and left your Profile 2.0 player connected to the Internet. You won't see your player's serial number being recorded by the Ghoulish Ring of Copyright Holders while your viewing habits are being logged by their Drones. You won't see the High Council communicating with the lil' Beasties that hide deep, deep within the bowels of your player.
Ouuuuuuuuuuu.... [shuddering] I is getting rait askeered right now, even just *thinking* about it!

Ran out of beer? Holy cow. That's no good. Being bored is curable...i'll not post the many ways to cure boredom as some may not be appropriate...but running out of beer is unaccepatable. How dare you?! ;-D

Hi, FredBun! <yea - I'm always joking about something-or-other, or at least I try when people aren't coming down on my head with criticism.>
But yes, I'm very serious too. There are many who believe (myself among them), that if you have a full-time high-speed internet connection (which a great many people do), and you leave your player connected to the Internet (as Sony recommends, and which is what Profile 2.0 players are all about), then yes, I believe you are pretty-much at the mercy of Sony INC. and any 3rd-party corporation they care to engage to 'spy' on you.
(Without ranting about this), I honestly believe this is a cause for concern, because your player's Serial Number (which can be easily traced back to YOU by the original vendor you bought it from) can be recorded - the actual blu-ray discs you watch can be logged (maybe you borrowed some discs from another friend); some believe they can tell if you're watching a 'ripped' copy of a retail disc, etc etc.
Who knows? Sony's shenanigans will all be laid bare in due-time, methinks, by dedicated software-reverse-engineers, as the blu ray format matures.
