Is it pos to install a new HDD through hotswap on a virgin console? ive got the stotic dash on a linux disc i made. so when im in the boot screen can i just put the disc in and put it all on a new HDD?

Why would you want to? M$ dash will not access all the other space, and you can't ftp to it or run other apps off of it. Whats the point of a HDD swap? If your intention is to build a stock console where the HDD had previously failed, there is a procedure, basically you start the softmod to gain access to the eeprom bin file and then do the do to swap the drive. It might be easier to softmod, swap and then remove the softmod. Look here for a complete list of FAQs to do what I just stated:
