Hey there, I've search far and long to find the answer to this... but with SSBB being released and shocking the Pirate Community as being a Dual Layer disc, does this mean the GDR Models are now useless for ripping when it comes for Dual Layer discs?

The models that could read Wii discs in the GDR series were the following;

Hitachi LG GDR-8161b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-8162b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-8163b (IDE) (The one I have)
Hitachi LG GDR-8164b (IDE)
Hitachi LG GDR-H10NBLK (SATA)

So after saving up enough cash to buy one in December, does this mean I've technically wasted my money? I only really Modchipped my Wii to play Brawl early, and the same for buying the DVD Reader, so I could rip it and RegionFrii, BrickBlock, etc.

By the way, I have a PAL Wii chipped with WiiKey, and I have a preorder set down for a NTSC-U copy of Brawl, thus me being very worried since Wiikey can't read backups of Brawl from the consoles native region, so another Region has me even more spooked.

Could anyone possibly answer my question, it'd be greatly appreciated, even if it is the cold hard fact that my money has been wasted.

I've found a program called dumper005, which apparently allows the GDR Drives to rip Dual Layer games, including Brawl, but takes a very long time to what I've read. This would be a life saver if it was true, but inside the readme, I found the following list;

?Î???h???C?u:
GDR-8164B
GDR-8162B(?v?t?@?[???X?V)
GDR-8082N
GCC-4243N

?ñ?Î???h???C?u:
GSA-H10A
GSA-H21L
GSA-H42N
GSA-4040B
GCC-4480B

If you look carefully, the drive I have - the GDR-8163b - is not on the list, which has me kind of worried. If someone has a legit copy of Brawl and a GDR-8163b drive, could they possibly tell me if this works? It seems very unlikely that it wouldn't however, since it's predecessor and it's successor both are listed to be able to dump the disc inside the readme.

Also, if my drive cannot read and dump a Brawl ISO when I receive my legit copy, what DVD Drives have been tested that can? Or perhaps the USB Gecko can dump this?

Please don't tell me to download the ISO since I'm buying a legit copy, I'm located in Australia, and our ISP's all suck. 15gbs a month, and I download at around 150kbps. If I go over that limit of 15gbs my internet slows down to dial-up speed.

Thanks a lot to anyone who can help.
