Can any one help please?
I have downloaded a Divx file of a film at 699mb I am trying to use TMPGEnc plus 2.5 to prepare this for auth but it says its to big for a DVD R disk to burn to. How do I get this file to burn to a DVD R disk? I am have installed TMPGEnc DVD Auth and IFOEDIT095 to auth the files.
Most of my files burn ok but some are too big is there another program I can use to make my files smaller? So I can burn yo a DVD-R disc

Thank you

TMPgenc shouldnt have any problems with the file size, beacuse i've encoded files well over 8 gigs in size, i assume your trying to author a DVD compliant disk? divx is an AVI file and your converting or transcoding to mpeg2 @ DVD profile, you should check the final size i.e the .VOB file that TMPGEnc creates this is the Video+Audio data stream (i.e mpeg2) this file size should be less than 4.7GIGS(if you plan to burn to DVD R) ie one DVD R is about 4.7 Gigs (actually its less than that)

hope this helps, OR try out a different authoring software i've found that Ulead movie factory to be Quick, fast, reliable, and simple (it even allows simple chapter and background music)

Sorry, i almost forgot, how big your file ends up depends a lot on the settings used in TMPGEnc, one of the biggest factor is the bitrate, then their is the option of Variabe bit rate or constant bitate,

each have their pros and con, changing any one of these factors will directly affect your final file size it will also have an impact on image quality,

another thing to remeber is what was the orginal frame size of your movie if it was full sized (720*576) then you can transcode to full sized DVD, if however it was 352*288(PAL) or 352*240(NTSC) then it makes sense that when you encode you leave the ouput size to 352*288 Beacsue that is also a valid DVD frame size known as D2 or Half D1,
