ok so i've used the search and tried to do my homework on this but cant find a deffinitive guide (almost idiot proof) on how to actually play GameCube games on the wii. Some say you'll need a gamecube controller, others dont. Some say you need to update your wiikey, others dont. Some say only gamecube games from your region will work, others dont. You get the idea!
Anyway what im looking for is a comprehensive step by step guide on what i need to do in order to be able to play gamecube games on my wii. I dont have a gamecube controller nor do i have the wii classic controller (dont even know if that works on gamecube games?!).
First off, remove that link for the torrents before you get banned. No linking to sites where you can DL games, this conversation is for backups of games you own only.
As for your questions:
You DO need a gamecube controller and memory card.
You MAY need to update the wiikey. Most games worked just fine but do to an audio streaming bug in early wiikey firmwares some games would randomly crash. (note: If its a game with audio streaming and you have an old firmware wiikey then EVEN THE ORIGIONAL game disk will crash, not just backup copies) The handy sticky will help you update your wiikey if necessary. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/597460
Out of region games DO WORK so long as the wiikey's region override is turned on (note: region override is set by default to off and updating the wiikey firmware resets it to the default setting) If the console isnt modded then out of region gamecube games wont work reguardless of if they're origionals or backups. Again, the sticky will talk you through changing the settings if necessary.
The multi-iso creator is really easy to use. Just use the 'add iso' button to add your isos to the menu. Up to 3 games can be added to one standard sized DVD without shrinking them. With shrinking many more can be put one disk but some games will not work after being shrunk. Theres a list somewhere of which games can be shrunk but I dont have a link handy. Anyway, once you've added your games set the region and hit 'make multigame iso'
The program will run and then you burn the resulting iso as you would any other backup.
