The quality drop down bar on this program...always says dvd9...is there any way to change that so I know if the files will fit to a regular 4.7 without any compression? Because as it stands, I'm not sure and any loss of quality drives me crazy.

I know it's probably a dumb question but I like DVD Fab better than DVD Shrink but the only thing I miss about shrink is the quality/compression bar and being able to slide it to juuuusssst the right compression to milk the most out of the disc.

First of all, why are you using a version from Victorian times ?

I guess because I don't use it very often. I don't buy many dvds. So an update of the software will fix it?

No, just best to keep updating to keep up with encryptions, but as you say, if you don't use it very often you're fine as you are.

As to the quality/compression bar, or lack of, DVDFab HD Decrypter (freebie version) only rips, either full disc mode or main movie mode; to use DVDFab for compressing you'd need the Platinum version, which has a trial, then you can buy it. I've used DVDFab freebie version for the longest time, as i do compressing with DVD Shrink or DVD Rebuilder but recently purchased Platinum; haven't as yet used the compression features of Platinum myself though, so don't know how it compares to Shrink and other programs.

yes as creaky said dvdfab decrypter just rips, some compression won't affect picture quality anyway(depending on the TV your playing it back on) so your going to have to pay and get dvdfab platinum or use dvd shrink, dvd rebuilder which is freeware, thats up to you. use this thread for your backup options

i know i know :)
it was purely to give something back to the DVDFab folks; i've used the freebie version enough times to wear it out, and knew i'd never use any of the extra features but thought it was time i gave back; same with DVD Rebuilder, feels good to receive your own registered copy of something you use so often
