Personally i prefer 3.71 M33-4, but unless you are wanting to play the newer games i dont think there's any real reason to upgrade.

Agreed with the above member :)

But 3.90m33-2 too is stable and awesome !!! 8)
Popsloader too is there for the firmware :)

But as the above member said, if you don't wanna play some of the newer games, there is no reason for upgrading :)

I think 3.71 M33-5 and 3.80 M33-5 are the best ones. They are the last of versions and have all bugs fixed :)

I prefer 3.80 M33-5 since that has more features for the PSP and is a completed CFW.

i agree with the one above although i have 3.90 M33-2. it is a complete one with all the bugs fixed. however, if you wanna play any new games like patapon(very addicting game) you'll need to upgrade. other than that 3.52 M33-4 is great too

3.80m33-5 still has bugs >_>
The "Sony np9660" is still not fixed in 3.80m33-5 >_<
But this can be fixed by using the "M33 driver" :)
And some minute bugs still exist on 3.80m33-5 :)

I don't understand why people post these questions.

First off, it sometimes creates a huge fanboy mess, like back when we all still thought DaX was retired, and M33 released their first cfw, 3.51 M33. I remember one thread in particular, where an obnoxious member was bashing M33 just because it didn't have the OE label on it. "7 updates needed" he/she said. "Too unstable". They were directed back to 2.71 SE, DaX's first attempt at a cfw, which had 8 updates, counting SE-B and SE-C revisions.

Secondly, everybody's opinion is different. Some will say 3.52 M33-4 is the greatest cfw because it was the last one with an integrated 1.50 kernel and no sleep mode problems. Others will say 3.80 M33-5 since it doesn't have Skype wasting flash space, and for fat PSP owners, the 1.50 kernel addons aren't that much of a nuissance.

Logically assessing the situation, the latest revision shoud be the most stable. The developer looks at the source code of the previous version and eliminates bugs discovered. However, this is not always the case. Sometimes, there are compatibility issues with the new Sony firmwares, but DaX has been good enough to fix the major ones fairly quickly.

Looking back, it seems that the best way to find the best cfw for you in particular is to look at what aspects you want. If you want speedy booting, 3.80 M33-5 and lower are right for you, since Skype slows the PSP so much. If game compatibility is going to be an issue with you, keep up to date with the latest firmware revision. If you want damn near perfect 1.50 kernel support, stick with 3.52 M33-4 and lower, or use TimeMachine.

Some games will need a Good Firmware(3.52 M33+).

However, if some new games (e.g. GoW Chains of Olympus) are able to run on 3.52 M33(low chances, haven't tried it though), it will have some bugs and the game will constantly freeze, so that's why is better to have a high custom firmware for newest games and others.

I personaly prefer 3.80 M33-5, because it has less bugs(in my opinion) then 3.90 M33 wich created the PSP users a lot of problems.

However, i think i'll downgrade one day my PSP to 3.71 M33, cuz many people I know say it is the best CFW, with less buggs.

The best way to play new games from your memory stick (ISO) is to keep updating your PSP version.
3.71 M33 has less bugs but one big one. If you downgrade or update striaght to 3.71 M33.
The ISO would not play properly. It freezes up halfway through and therefore needs a recovery by sliding the power button up.

Lots of people like different versions for example:
-If you like to play ISOs then upgrade to 3.71 M33 or above.
-If you like to use other things then you would prefer other versions with less bugs.
-If you think Devhook is a good way to launch ISOs and it will run faster then they would have 2.71 SE

I don't think theere are people that say Devhook is better then custom firmware, but there are some people that'll prefer devhook, but i still dont understand them.
