Hi,
What updates are contained in the 400_api versus the 300_api?
I updated to 300 a while ago because I couldnt get the v400 to work. Just wondering is there much of a difference to warrant updating again?
Thanks,
Mal

300 was a right pain as it was giving major problems, vers 4.00 is the one for original starviews or u can use 257ee fixed for original and clones what problem did u have with v.4?

The v400 api from this link: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/493446
didn't work for me the 2 or 3 times I tried it. It kept giving me the knightrider (lights scrolling horizontally) error on my starview box. Bad flash I know.
I got the one from Eamos FTA Site yesterday and that worked fine.
Thanks for the reply,
Mal

Hi Guys,
I have an original starview for about one and a half years operating on ver257 and have always input the codes. I could not upgrade to autoroll versions as I did not have a com port on my new P.C.
Just received a usb to null modem cable adaptor this morning and I am going to install ver 4.
My question is before I install ver4 do I have to do a factory re-set or similar before installing or will it just automatically overwrite / update the old ver257.
Its probably just a stupid question but its in my nature to ask before I attempt anything.
Cheers guys,
Garry

No you do not need to - just go ahead and flash the firmware V.400 on to the box - if you need any thing you will find it in Eamo's Library under Fergus's posts above.

no need to do a factory reset.
it will overwrite the existing firmware.
just make sure its a genuine b0x for the _400eE_ firmware.

Hi guys,I have tried to flash my starview for the last two hours but to no avail. I have downloaded the ver4 firmware, ver4 gtrom loader and the usb to serial adapter drivers.
when I try to download the serial port is set to com1, I have tried 2 3 and 4 but to no avail.I only have a usb connection on my P.C. but it does not seem to pick it up
the message I get is " cannot open serial port " and last error " system cannot find the file specified"
I feel a bit frazzled now so any help would be appreciated.

Hi,
Check noelyf's post dated 28 march. His post gives a link to celtics post on com port problems which sorted me out. I dont know if you have the same problem as me as but if you start from there and see how you get on. If this does not work out, post again here and someone will be able to help you out.
Rgds,
Garry

Make sure you are using the correct COM port and that you have the NULL MODEM CABLE and NOT the RS232 cable as that wont work and will give you a failed message
