If I were to download a .avi movie off of a p2p program such as KaZaA Lite, what would be the best software to convert the .avi video file so that I could burn it onto a blank DVD-R.

Well you would need 2 Programs, One to encode it to Mpeg2/DVD Format and one to Author it to DVD as you can not just Burn the Mpeg file to DVD and Have it Play it has to be authored with a DVD authoring Program..."Tmpgenc" is Good for encodeing to Mpeg2 and "Tmpgenc DVD author" is good for Authoring the Files to DVD....Cheers

Right now I'am only having luck making back-up copies of my DVDs using DVD Shrink and Nero 6 Ultra Edition.

Well Makeing Backups of DVD"s and Putting a File you downloaded off the net on DVD are 2 Totally different things with the Later being the More difficult..There are guides here that should ekplain in detail how to do it...Cheers
