Hi, I just got v14 PS2, and the install went pretty smoothly. I do not get the Matrix logo on startup, I have checked the wires many times and I do not think this is the problem. I have tried this chip in another console and I never saw the logo there either (that install didn't go so well). I know this chip is legit and not a clone. I think the chip just needs to be re-flashed.

I have downloaded and burned the 1.93 firmware update. I boot the ps2 in "emergency recovery" mode and the CD boots fine. But it says "press x to upgrade firmware to 1.82". I downloaded the 1.93 firmware from the matrix site but I figure its fine and I try to update. After I press X nothing happens. The screen just stays white with the Matrix logo on top. I have tried 2 CDs at the lowest speeds. What should I do to flash my PS2? If I messed up some wires which would should I check?

Also, my PS2 only boots if I hold the power button - not if I tap it. Is this normal? Thanks!

It doesn't sound to normal to me. Make sure that you're power and ground wires are the right awg, i think 22awg is the right kind but I don't remember. Also if a thicker wire doesn't help, then make you're power and ground wires are as short as possible.

I tried my hardest to make the BIOS wires as short as possible (1 to 2 cm)- my pwr and gnd lines are quite long (~10 cm). Is it more important to make these shorter or to make the BIOS wires shorter? Also, I have used 20 AWG wire before, but I have run out so I just doubled up the 30 AWG wire. I can try again with 20 or 22, I'm sure I can find some somewhere. Thanks for the tip!

Tried again with 22 AWG wire for pwr and gnd - I am still getting the same results. What should I do?
