That is interesting. Someone from another thread says that the update does not fix the semi brick:

I wonder what the difference is

The SSBB did nothing to unbrick my semibricked wii. Still no access to settings and no online play. I hope wii fit has an update or some other game has the 3.2 firmware on the disc. This is getting frustrating.

It just depends on what firmware you had bricked your system.

Kweeehh could have bricked with an older version update.

EXAMPLE:
Member 1 has a 2.0U Wii and bricked via 2.1E firmware update. The update on the SSBB game disc would overwrite the older 3.1E firmware to 3.1U firmware.

Member 2 semi-bricks Wii with 3.1E then the SSBB would not unbrick with the the 3.1U update due to the Wii thinking it is already updated because of the 3.1 version number.

There are some that say SSBB has 3.2 but others say it is 3.1U which I would bet 3.1U is what firmware is on the SSBB Wii since 3.2U just came out a few weeks ago probably a few weeks after SSBB game disc where manufactured.

I installed smg pal (I assume 3.0e) version on my wii by mistake and semi bricked my US version Wii. I used a backup version of ssbb
(US) and it fixed it! Good luck to all

I had the Super Mario Galaxy patch and i updated with the japanese SSBB patch which caused my brick. But when the american version came out it asked me to update again, and after i did that it was completely fixed!
im sorry to hear that its not the same for all of you guys though.

Kweeehh,

Luckey for You. I tried to fix my wii with the USA version of smg but it didn't try to update. mine was the pal version that bricked me. I had to wait till ssbb came out.

It seems to me that the USA SSBB will fix USA consoles bricked with the JAP SSBB. I've read similar stuff before. So basically you can assume that as long as the firmware is released later on disk than the firmware of the bricked console then it will overwrite it - the release time being the important factor. In other words 3.1U came after 3.1J and 3.1E came after 3.1U - This is why everybody is advised to update their firmware online to the latest for their console and then not take updates out of region if there's a risk it will overwrite their firmware with a bricking one. Anyone on 3.2 shouldn't be bricked - cos the only way to get there was online and SSBB being the latest game doesn't have a high enough firmware to overwrite 3.2 regardless.

USA
SSBB USA should fix all USA Bricks.

JAP
SSBB JAP should fix all JAP bricks on 3.0 or below. There is no fix for JAP on 3.1U ..or 3.1E brick if that's out there as well or when it happens ;) (Mario Kart JAP may be the next brick fix firmware)

PAL
SMG PAL should fix all PAL bricks of 3.0 or below. There is no fix for PAL on 3.1U/J brick but SSBB PAL will be the next fix.

If any game is released tomorrow with 3.2 on it then these rules change of course.

....wanders off expecting someone to post summat about their 3.2 brick, completely exposing his post as a huge fallacy

Another question.. If the wii is still semibricked.. Can we still play new games that come out on a different region? any precautions we should consider?

Currently Playing: The Godfather Blackhand Edition
couldn't play SPM because of causing to be bricked...

Hello everyone! I recently semi-bricked my Japanese Wii (originally had the 3.1j FW). Not sure whether my Wii is NTSC or PAL though but it has been mod chipped. It got semi bricked after I inserted a US region Mario Kart game. Initially it didn't play, but after asking some stuff in Japanese, it rebooted and my kids were able to play the game. However, now I can't access settings menu.

Does my Wii now have the 3.2U FW?
What game can I use to undo this? It would have to be a Japanese version game I pressume.

Thanks!
Hopefully you guys can help.
