Is there an application or a way to fix/repair corrupted game saves, aside from using backup on game saves?

i dont think there is. Personally ive never came across anything of the sort. Checkout http://www.psp-hacks.com The site has lots of information and goodies on the psp.

if something has become corrupt theres no way of getting it back really because all the code is scrambled which makes it impossable for anything to read.

just have a look around on some site to find games saves that you can download if you dont want to do the whole game again.

as bandit008 said psp-hack is a good site for genral psp stuff.
