My friend got a X2.3 lite chip and we put the M7 bios on it. Now we are using the same brand of cds we used to flash the chip, however we cannot get it to read anything. We have tried slayers, and just burning evox. I have read many tutorials and all of them are different. Some say that when you burn the default.xbe and .ini files, they do not need to be an iso, and others say they need to be. I have tried both ways, however, and still no luck. I am using nero 5.5.8.2 to burn the ISO. One thing I just thought about, The settings for when we burned the bios files was to check allow more than 255 char/ path and allow more than 8 subdirectories or something like that. Should these be uncheked, or does it matter? I have joliet unchecked, disk at once, burning at slowest speed, ISO level 1, format mode 1, Character set: ISO 9660, and finalize CD. is something wrong? this is getting very frustrating. Could the bios have anything to do with this problem? When we put the cd in the xbox, it acts like it is really trying hard to read the cd and it takes a while, but then the error msg comes up. We turned it off, then back on and still same thing.

Plz help!!

games and dvds play just fine. After the flubber, the X logo pops up, we had the bios change the X so that it is red, so I know the bios is working.

ok it does have to be an iso iso should have skins folder abc.dat (dummy folder 100-200mb)evox.ini and *.xbe for d drive Xbe is usualy default.xbe but bios can be made to look for other ****.xbe I asume you have a bios editer so open the bios in xbtool or what ever you used a check what the .xbe for drive d is keep your abc.dat file simple to avoid the 8 sub deal I think use a vid in the folder but I dont think the 8 sub maters I gotten it befor

That sounds like what I have already done. The only difference is that I also had a folder named skins and a folder named bios that were put in the ISO along with the default.xbe and the .ini file. I checked my bios, and it says C:/evoxdash.xbe C:/xboxdash.xbe and then at the bottom it says DVD: default.xbe and my file was named default.xbe. Does it matter what the actual ISO is named? maybe i'm making the ISO wrong. I am using craxtion and I select add, then I select the folder that evox is in, then I click create. It seems to make it really fast, like half a sec. is it supposed to take a few min. for craxtion to make the ISO?

The dummy file I used was a file from my diablo 2 game. It was 260 MB. I opend Nero, dragged the iso over to the window, then I created a new folder labeld "NEW" and put the dummy file in there. So I had the ISO in the root, and then a folder with the dummy.

Still no luck...this is starting to get very frustrating.

I put the evox stuff, bios folder is fine as well, and the dummy folder in one folder on my pc then make iso of that folder the only thing burned to the disk is the iso I don't and any thing els. Nero from file menu select burn image browse to iso I dont think name matters I name mine all kind of things (like evoxW/format.iso) they work. Try that first that may do it. I may need some help in the future with getting M7 on a new chip I use 4979.06 but I heard the the cromwell will not take either was it a two step process to get M7 working

thanks, ill try to make it like that tonight. When we put M7 on his chip, all we did was burn it to a disk with a dummy file in a separate folder. then we just put the cd in when it asked for the update bios, and it read.
