ok i need help. i bought a wii key a while ago and it just arrived today. I purchased it along with a wire and solder kit, and a tri-wing screwdriver. It smaller than i thought it would be. Anyway i placed it were its supposed to be positioned. Now i have no idea what to do next. Ive searched and i have seen the same thing guys asking for help and people posting links. The links lead to the same pdf pic that just shows were to put it and no help at all. So when i got it it was just the wii key, a tri-wing, and the wire kit (which i was very confused)

Heres a video of the wire kit i got -->> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kS8zcIzLjRU

So right now im stuck with my wii open and the wii key positioned with wires having no idea what to do. So can u guys tell me if i need anything else and what to do.

Thanks

Please for the love of your Wii send it off to someone who can solder. By reading what you have said DO NOT attempt it yourself.

Oooook lol.

Well first of all I'm sure you know whether or not your Wii is compatible with the Wiikey and if it has cut pins or not. What you do is just follow the diagram. Connect each point to the corresponding point with solder and wire. Make sure not to heat the solder too much or it may overheat any components nearby.

You can look at other install pics for reference.

first of all my wii is compatible, and i do not have the pins cut. Any other tools i need because people have been telling me to get the soldering gun with a fine point.

Soldering IRON, not a gun. The iron has to be 15w. You'll also need soldering flux, electrical tape, wire strippers, scissors, double-sided tape, and patience.

You obviously have no clue what you're getting into since you really didn't research about doing a wiikey install. You're better off having a pro do it.

That is one method of soldering the Wiikey but it is not really for n00bs. The solder points are too close to each other and you can easily bridge them. Believe me I have seen some horror stories.

The safest way is to use wire- 30AWG to be exact.

I agree. I was tempted to do the "easy" way of just doing the chip on the board but after i took it apart i ran to radio shack and got some 30awg w/o question. the points are pretty small and the distance between the chip and points was way to large for me. if you did the "dreaded d0" on the xbox v1, then you can most likely do the wii.

plus, if you do the wire install, removal is super easy in case you want to swap a chip later. with all the blah blah about the wiikey support, who knows.
