hey i was using shrink to reduse the size of an 8 gig dvd and it took me an excessive time of 2 hours and 30 min for 4.5gigs i shrunk it too, whcih when transfered to my comp ended up being about 5.2 gigs?.while in dycpt i can do i 8gig file in about 45min to an hour. I was just wondering what i can do to speed up the process.

system info:
Amd athlon 550mhz
128 ram
12x read buslink dvd burner
100MHZ bus speeb
win xp professional

I belive it's time for a system upgrade, You should be running at least 512 MB of RAM. A new computer would really make a huge difference though.

Faster processor + more Ram = faster shrink

There is no problem so big, that a brick placed against the proper skull cannot fix =)

Well i know im probly in need if a new processor but would addign more ram/memory speed up my computer without getting a new processor or would i just be throwing me money away.

Adding memory certainly should help, especially since you're running XP, which manages memory about as well as my 5 year old manages money. ;-) Seriously, I consider it a mistake to run XP with anything less than 256MB of memory. Using 128MB is basically equivalent to running Windows 98 or Windows 2000 with 64MB.

ya i love xp but when this things gets into its loops its a pain in the ass. As far as memory goes any certain kind that i should use? So adding its not like adding and intake to a car without adding an exhuast.
since the processor is slow (550mhz) but its amd atholon and seems to do its job compared to some of these news comps.
