I've tried looking about but with so many different variations i'm totally confused!
I have Swap Magic 3.6 and have no trouble booting my backups. What I want to know is if I want to transfer these to a HDD, what types can you use?
Can you only add a HDD to the expansion bay in a fat PS2 with a Network Adaptor?
Or can you use an external HDD and connect it to one of the front USB sockets? If you can are there like any setting that need to be set first, or just plug and play?
Now from the posts I've read that I need to get DVDdecypter in order to copy my games to a HDD, correct me if i'm worng. All I need to know is can I just bang a external HDD with a USB lead to the front, or do I have to buy a Network Adaptor and stick an internal HDD in the back?
if you have a fat ps2, it's HIGHLY recommended to use the network adapter/hdd setup. i wouldn't even mess with a usb hdd, because the usb is only usb1.1.
you will need a hd program to run games off the hdd. hdloader 0.8b is recommended. also, you cannot save any game saves on the hdd.
OK so HDadvance 3.0 supports a bigger hdd but how big? i find one person saying 200GB and anyother saying 1T! Which ones right?
See what I mean, that's why im so confused about this :P
I created the SWAP MAGIC folder, transferred USDadvance files across, renamed the efl to SWAPMAGIC.ELF. But when trying to load t on the PS2, it gets to the Swap Magic splash screen (one without Load Prgram & Video SEtting) the USB drive LED flashed for a second and then nothing.
Even tried the MC exploit and still nothing.
Also regarding the forum layout, wouldnt it be better to skicky tutorials for each method? All I see atm is how to just use Swap Magic, nothing about how to use it with usbadvance/extreme, how to copy&load games from a USB HDD etc (think i might have seen one but forums pretty messy and cant find it again :P) Nayway if you do that im sure ppl like me would stop complaining and posting the same stuff over and over. Thanks
