Recently i had my jap wii mod. The guy in hk said "never to update the wii or the wii will screw up". First off, i've read somewhere in the forum that it'll screw up if i update my wii using a NTSC game or something like that? please clear that up for me =]
Also, i downloaded SSBB jap version patched and everything *according to the torrent comment anyway*. I burnt the iso onto a dvd-r at 1X speed. When i put the game into my wii, it can detect it and all during the loading screen; however, when i click to start the game, the screen just goes black and it freeze.
So i went to some other place and buy jap version of SSBB (pirated version). When i try to load the game, it says i have to update my wii. So far I don't have the courage to upgrade because of the guy that modded my wii said. I also tried loading the original version of NTSC SSBB (that i bought from walmart the day it came out), but my wii cannot detect the cd

you have to update your wii, no matter what. even my unmodded wii asked for the update when i popped in my retail brawl disc. if your downloaded one is japanese, and your wii is japanese, then nothing bad will happen.
the guy who modded your wii is dumb for telling you not to update your wii; you WILL HAVE to update your wii with future games.
