Using WIFIMAX for Laptop

Hi. I recently bought a new laptop and i also have the WIFIMAX. I have used it for my PSP(sometimes my PS3 if it feels like picking the signal up) but i just wanted to know if it would work for me to connect t the Internet Wirelessly from my Lapop. I've heard that it is possible but i don't know what setings i would have to put in. If somebody could provide a detailed explanation of the settings i would have to enter both on my PC which has the WIFIMAX plugged into it and on the LAPTOP.
