I picked this up this evening, It's the 2 disc set (Blue Cover) that most will have to buy or borrow to see this version because BlockBuster is not renting the the "Alternate Theatrical Edition" (I beleive NETFLIX is though). It was hard to find too....I purchased "I AM LEGEND" (Full Screen) 3 weeks ago. No one was carrying the 2 disc version really early like most titles I find at local mom & pop spots. Included is 2 separate widescreen full versions of the movie on 2 separate DVD disc. The standard theatrical version on one disc and the alternate on the other disc. This was good marketing as this movie was heavily pirated. This alternate version should help Warner Bros. recover from some of the loss. The alternate version includes the now popular alternate ending found on YouTube and currently advertised on TV.
More than just the very ending though as the alternate movie briefly entertains a romantic interest between Will Smith's character and the woman character who comes to see him with the young boy. I really like this movie and equally liked both versions. Below I have listed the status from AnyDVD as there is nothing aggressive about the encryption on this disc, thus older software like SHRINK should not have a problem.;P

Thanks for the heads up. I'm looking forward to seeing this again. I thought it received an unfair criticism. Too many people were expecting an action packed movie (because of the trailer) but this wasn't all that bad. Will Smith was adequate as the last man in NYC. Was this better than the original 2? That's a different story. One thing that I absolutely hated about this movie was infected people. They looked horrendous.
Anyway, I'm glad there's nothing on this disc. I'll most definitely be picking up the two disc version.
PS A bit of trivia: that scene of the Mobil gas station, and its block, is around the corner from where I work in Manhattan. That gas station is 15th Street & 10th Avenue. I'm on 14th & 9th. In fact, a lot of this film was shot near where I am in the city. And yes, I saw them filming.

I am looking forward to this movie as well. Plus I like trying to find "hard to find items" too.

The alt ending sucked.
And how did they get off New York? The bridges were destroyed at the beginning. The end just shows their driving off . . .

I did R1 of this title with just DVD Decrypter. Nothing else. Nobody should have problems with this one. LOL

Both endings are on the Blu-ray version which you can rent at either Netflix or Blockbuster.

Mine just came in today. I order online and most come either the day it's released or a few days after, tho I did get a couple a few days before the actual release date. This one ripped with dvdfab easily enough. I tend to rip the entire disk with english subtitles and director's commentary if there is any.
