i've been having problems with my wii where a game will boot/load just fine -- but, after a bit of play (sometimes 30 mins, sometimes hours), i'll just get a disc read error. if i reboot the wii, everything is fine...until it happens again...
i haven't ruled out media 100% yet. but let me give more background:
i had been playing the wii with my backups just fine until SMG came out. upon putting SMG in, the wii updated to 3.0 (i think) and killed the wiikey. i went through all sorts of methods to try to update the wiikey to 1.9g. after many, many failed attempts..i somehow randomly got the right combination of things put together that allowed me to update to 1.9g. i don't really know what i did, but SMG played fine...and i left it in the wii for months.
now, i've started playing my older games and first ran into this problem. i've since updated the wii to 3.2, but that hasn't fixed anything.
all my media were burned at 8x using some random (Arita?) dvdrs. this was before i knew there was a difference in what types of media, and what speed you burn at. but, if these discs worked flawlessly before the SMG update, why would they start producing errors now? did the wii update tighten tolerances for burned media?
