Are there any advantages/disadvantages from standing your Wii console horizontal instead of vertical?
Better DVD reads? Less dust accumulation? Less scratching of DVD's? Longer console longevity?

I haven't researched it extensively, and maybe it's more psychological, but I feel that laying it flat and away from anything that blocks air current to the vents seems to provide my Wii with less disc errors, etc. but again I think it's more psychological than actual fact.

Well, I used to have mine vertical, but then when playing with corded gamecube controllers, it took a little fall. Therefore I have kept it horizontal.

vertical, because i use the gamestop cooling stand and a modified intec v2 usb fan to keep the system cool. leaving wiiconnect24 on is not a problem now; system stays cool to the touch.
