I've been using smartripper for about 4 years now. It's a fantastic program, i like the fact it rips the movie into 1 easy vob in the original master's quality.
But recently i've been looking for a program that rips the whole dvd, including menu's, special features etc...... Anyone got a good one they use? If so what's your method for burning after aswell? Thanks in advance.

pryme_H Thanks very much! I've just used this now i can't believe how quick it's ripping! Maybe even faster than smartripper. So i've been on this site for about 6 hours & already 2 of my many questions have been answered. Thanks again!

Me again, now i have the DVD folder with VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS inside, the audio_ts is empty?!?!? Is that suppose to be? Now how do i burn this onto another blank dvd? Using smartripper i made 1 vob file, then i justed stuck that in nero 8 & wait for a couple of mins then burn it.

Sorry my bad, i didn't realise you still use dvdfab to burn it as well, i can't believe all these years i've been backing them up using smartripper & nero losing all the menu's & extras, I'm an ediot. LOL. I'll try this in acouple of days, i don't have any blank dvd's:( & off i go to ebay......... Thanks again pryme_H.

The audio folder is always empty, I've never found one that had data on it.

When I get the 2 folders after ripping with dvdfab, I process those folders through dvdshrink 3.2. And I always backup(save as) to ISO. The ISO can be burned with nero or imgburn etc.

I just prefer dvdshrink3.2 editing engine to finalize the finished dvd.

Thanks jony218, i might do that, i must admit using dvdfab for ripping & burning seems a lot easier. & thanks for the input on the AUDIO_TS folder, i was worried i was doing something wrong.

No it doesn't. What you can do, however, is use DVD Shrink for this purpose. It is encouraged to rip just the main movie to minimize/eliminate compression when files are transposed to DVD Shrink.

If you use DVDFab Platinum, you just rip the dvd in DVD-5 settings, you can't miss it, it's quite clear on the screen, it will take the quality down accordingly to fit on DVD-5 to a tee. Personally i can't even notice the quality difference, trust me i've burned about 18 DVD's this week, using this method, you don't lose a thing, menu's, extras, all episodes of a series DVD, Everything. DVDFab Platinum what a great program, kicks the s**t out of smartripper, rips quicker aswell, i suppose it depends on dvdr-drive & rest of pc but when i do a rip & burn it takes under 15 minutes in total to rip & then burn to another disc!
