Is Swap Magic coder really better than 3.6?

You would think so but i've been reading some threads where people are saying 3.6 has better compatibility. Also some say you cant play imported games either. Is this true?

should you et 3.6 instead of 3.8?

idk but i have 3.6 and the cd version doesnt work and when i do the swap for the dvd version it spins for 1 second and says not a valid ps2 disk
