I bought this PSP from this kid at my school for $50.
The only thing wrong with it is it has a rough edge on the power switch side. (I think it was dropped on concrete).

Anyway when it's on and running, and if I shake even a little, the PSP will turn off but the power light stays on. If I hold it completely still nothing will happen. This is only when it's shaken a little.

Someone else said that there is a physical problem with the PSP and said I would have to open it up. I've opened my other PSP lotss of times so thats not a problem.

Does anyone have any idea what part is messed up?

right now it can be a couple of things

1) the abxy switch. it might be that it is comming loose every time its shook but im not sure it is.

2) it could be the connector for the battery but it would switch off it was (light goes out)

3) (this is what it might be and can be checked) it could be that there is a problem with the internal flash memory on the psp which would mean that it becomes a brick when shook and then when it is turned off and then on it connects back again (bit of a funny idea but might be true)

what you can do to check this is to use dark alexs time machine to run the fw off the memory stick and not off the internal flash. but if it still goes funny then it is something else like the first two i said above.

i may be total wrong but thats what i think it might be

hope that all helps

UPDATE!

I found it only turns off like that when I put pressure on the side with the Wlan switch on it. Note I have a old black PSP.

So that probably narrows it down right?

right what might happen is that the wlan switch is short circuiting the psp when it is pressed in. the only thing that i can suggest is to open it up and give it a good clean with a cotton but round the switch. apart from that you will have to replace the switch which will be hard work 0_<

hope that helps

But I am going to sell it to whoever will give me the most monry.
If I take it apart I might damage the warranty seal and then I can't sell it to Gamestop.

Oh well.

This might be a stupid Q - I wonder if just the screen connectors have come loose. They are only clip connectors and a violent shake could (maybe) come loose.

You dont say if your still getting sound?

PsP#1 : 2.01>3.71M33-4>3.80 M33-5
PsP#2 (Slim) : 3.80>3.90M33-2 All hail the UPMS Stck
If you need a UPMS Stick go here and then go here :-) *As recommended by January39

that is a very good point hadn't thought of that.

if the void sticker is removed then just open it up and see if the clips that hold the screen ribbons that connect the screen to the motherboard are loose if they are then see if the little black switch on the connector is up if it is then flick it down and it will keep it in place .

the only thing that i can say which might mean its not the screen is that its only when the wlan switch is pushed in so that means it might not be the screen 0_<

The PSP completely turns off when it does this. No sound and no visual. Power light remains on. Then when I push the power switch back up it will turn back on.

And it only does this when I put pressure on the left side.
