GUIDE: Play Games that Require Higher Firmware without Upgrading

Hello, this guide will show you how to play ISO games that require a higher firmware than you have without upgrading. For UMD, u will need to rip the disc out into an ISO format. This guide will work if you don't want to upgrade but just to play a game.
1. Requirements of this Guide
UMDGEN 4
PBP Unpacker
Knowledge of basic computer skills
A PSP with A Custom Firmware ( 3.03 OE or higher)
2. After installing the programs, open your ISO, CSO or DAX with UMDGEN (Click on the Open Button and browse for your game). Click on the "PSP_GAME".
3. Find the PARAM.SFO. Right-click the PARAM.SFO file, and click Extract Selected . Pick a folder to put your file. I recommend the desktop.
4. Open your newly extracted PARAM.SFO file. The should open PSP Unpacker with the SFO editor. Look for the "PSP_SYSTEM_VER".
5. Double click it. On the DATA it would show numbers. The numbers is the required firmware u need to play the game. Change it to 3.03 and click ENTER.
6. Click on File (Left Top Corner) and click Save to File. Save it and overwrite your old SFO files. Exit PBP unpacker and go back to the UMDGEN
7. Go to UMDGEN and click anywhere on the white spot. Click Add , then to Existing File. Add your SFO file. Replace the file.
8. Nearly Done, click on the save button and save it as ISO or CSO. Pick a name and a spot to save it. You're Done !

Q: How can I rip the UMD ?
A: If u have M33 custom firmware, press home (or select) to go into the M33 menu. Go to the usb settings press the right button on the (d-pad) until you get to UMD drive. Plug in ur USB and u will the ISO file. If you dont have M33 then use this app. UMD DUMPER 0.2
Q: How do I play ISO? What is custom firmware?
A: Use google.
Q: I cant open the PARAM.SFO file !
A: Right-click the file and click open with. Then browse for the PBP unpacker program (usually located at C:\Program Files\PBP Unpacker\pbp-unpacker.exe). Click the Always use the ... then click OK
Q: Why 3.03 OE firmware.
A: I tried out of most games, and I think that 3.03 OE was the best.

Nah Vista isn't as horrible as people think. You just have to know how to use it haha

Nicely done!
But how come I'm on 3.71 m33-4,
and FF:CC and God of War worked!
They require 3.90 and 3.80 firmwares right?
Want ISO's Rip them from the UMD.

yes, god of war require 3.80 and FF requires 3.90 . Maybe DA made a prx to run any game. Dunno ?
Anyways, this works for psp demos that u download.

Yeah thanks mrgooey. Now I made Bleach 5 run to my PSP!
It's very unclear that 3.71 runs 3.80 and 3.90 games.
Very interesting.
Want ISO's Rip them from the UMD.

i tried to do it, and changed it to 3.52. it was unsuccessful at first and the general information can up nothing. so i extract it into a psp_game folder and bin. then i replace the file with my 3.52 .sfo file. it worked and changed the data, displaying it in the general information. but i still couldn't get it to work.
does it work only with 3.03? or is there anything else i must have missed?

let's use the edit button next time.. I assuming u have 3.52 M33 since u edit the sfo. Did u save the sfo and replace it to the UMDGEN ?
Also, im not sure what u said here

No, this works for all firmwares

I wanted to check if this is right..When I extracted and saved it as cso.It started "generating image" is this normal?Is it perhaps rebuilding the CSO?

I can't seem to make my copy of Bleach work.
I followed the guide step-by-step.
I tried about 12 times alternating firmwares.

It's correct. UMDGEN puts it into a new brand ISO and then convert it to CSO

Yeah, now it works. It started when 3.71 M33 came out. Back before 3.71 M33, this was the only way to get through it.
