Yesterday I was trying to rip the last of my games to my hard drive via DVD2XBOX, the first one worked good. I got bored of the 360 skin, so I changed to another (forget the name), and it froze after I had selected the skin I wanted. I thought "Maybe I need to re-load it". I turned off my Xbox, and turned it back on. Went to Applications and selected DVD2XBOX from the list. Now, it just stays there at a black screen, doesn't load or anything. I've waited, and waited. Then, I decided to re-install it. So I popped in my AID disk, loaded it up, and installed DVD2XBOX to the E: drive. Still, standing there at a black screen. Hmm, odd. So, the last thing I did was uninstalled it, then re-installed it. You guessed it, standing there at that same, black screen. Did save the state it was in when I uninstalled it, thinking that I might want to keep my settings in case I wanted to re-install?

I don't know whats going on, it just seems weird. I can live without the games on my hard drive, I don't mind switching them out; its now just bugging me that it won't load.

Any ideas?
Corn

You need to ftp in and have a look for the dvd2xbox folder.. It may be that the default.xbe is too many layers down for your dash to find it.. If that be the case you can either move it up to be in the root of the dvd2xbox folder, or edit your evox.ini to reflect the new location.

I bet you don't know the home site do you??

Personally I think the skinning has gone over the top.. I can't stand that cheezy 360 look. I think the 360 dash is tacky.. no class whatsoever.

The best released version IMHO is on the xbox360-hackers.com installer disk.

Hey corn, I read somewhere (and no now I can't remember where) but this problem happened to someone else. It has something to do with the skin. I'm pretty sure the solution was to remove dvd2xbox and then reload it and it worked.

Okay I searched here for you and here is the whole thread:

http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/510357

But here is the important part:

Found out the solution to that problem after doing some searching on the internet. Here's what i did to solve it:

Deleted the 'dvd2xbox' save game
Deleted the folders e:\tdata\0facfac0\ and e:\udata\0facfac0\ using file manager on my xbmc dash.
Rebooted the box, loaded the dvd2xbox application from xbmc dash and it works fine with the skin back to PM3 (which is the default on this version).

Hope this helps

I don't have FTP access right now, but I will try it later. Yeah, I really didn't know the home site haha. I just installed the apps. right off the AID disk, I never looked them up. Guess I should start.

Thanks, guys I'll report back with what happens.

EDIT: Appears that site has gone offline :(. I was looking forward to it, oh well, I guess I will just have to get it off the site.

It isn't offline.. I just was looking at it.. strange..

Now I worked it out playing with an unreleased version and a couple of skins. Some nubs have messed up the paths in the skin, so you have a real great chioce.. you can pick through every button and image and overlay and try to fix it, or you can change the installation path (really simple) and put a late but still standard skinned version in.
What is wrong (hint hint) is the skin has a few random typos in both the skin.ini file and in the file names.. I had a good pick through and it just looks to me like a proofreading error.. same kind of bugs that xbmc has..

I'm strange.. I think a lot of the older versions of a lot of xbox applications were better and more stable.. they seem far more tolerant of missing buttons which are called by later skinning attempts. The CVS releases of XBMC are close to unbreakable whereas the t3ch late series are really touchy.

Be prepared to edit some files, but try the apps on slayers 2.4 if you want rock solid ;)

Ok, I know this is like two weeks after you typed it, but I didn't see it in my subscribed threads. Anyways, if I install the DVD2XBOX right of f the Slayers Disk, then do I have to edit anything? I don't have FTP right now, and the only way to transfer is to burn to a blank disk and use file manager to copy them off into the directory (pain in the :O). Its pretty odd that it worked before, and even though I deleted it via AID, it's still not working.

Seems like it made a game save and its set to load my settings in case I want to put DVD2XBOX back on there.

I'll get my hands on a Slayers disk, and then I'll try everything I can without FTP.

EDIT: Woah, Dylon didn't see your post. I will combine both the info, and see what I can come up with.
Plan:
Use Dylon info to fix it
Use Varnull's info to get a older, more stable version of DVD2XBOX.

Thanks guys.

You should be able to look through your game saves with unleashx file manager.. it can open the image files so you can see what game is what. dvd2xbox should show a nice small green icon with the usual text ;) If you find one just delete it.

You can d/l a couple of the earlier versions from the link provided earlier on irc.. then put them on a r/w disk and use unleash or avalaunch to get them in the right place.
