I have a phat and a slim, but the phat came from e-bay without a battery and so I picked up an 1800mh cheapy from Amazon that works well - it gives about 4 hours normal use in the phat.
But it doesn't work in the slim! I can push it in as far as it will go but the psp just won't turn on at all.
I used a datel TOOL battery (an 1800mh) to put both on cfw and it slotted in perfectly in both (of course it wasn't flush in the slim but it booted straight into service mode without any hassle).
As it is, there is no problem - I'm a lucky boy with two fully functioning psps. But if I make a long journey the slim is more economical on power so it would be cool to have the phat battery as backup to use in the slim.
Has anyone else had trouble with getting a non Sony battery to work in a slim?
And how did you get it to work? (I've seen threads elsewhere on trimming parts of the battery casing).
Could it be something apart from the physical structure of the battery, instead being something to do with the eprom for an aftermarket battery for a phat?
Yeh, it's not an original Sony battery, only cost me about £3 from Amazon but it works great with my phat.
My slim is a Japanese one and the original Sony battery has mostly Japanese writing on the back.
So do you think it is something to do with the internal working of the battery as opposed to the physical fit or contact with the terminals that means it works with the phat and not the slim??
If you had a similar problem did you manage to sort it?
The one I bought off ebay came all packaged up as a Sony and looked exactly right. I bought it to pandorise but knew there was something wrong when I put it in my slim and nothing happened (I only did this as my slim was closest to hand). I assumed the battery was flat so I put it in my fat and hey presto it works...?! I then tried to pandorise it and kept getting an error at 0x27. After a little investigation I found that this battery is indeed either a new Sony which prevents pandorisation (unlikely!) or a fake. I contacted the seller and he sadly informed me that it was indeed a fake as he'd had loads of complaints and offered a refund. Basically it's unreversable so by the looks of it you bought yourself a very good, cheap, fake that will work perfectly on your fat only. Apparently the reason it won't work on slims is to do with the circuitry as opposed to the physical fit (although my battery is a little tight in both PSP's)
Never mind - it was a very small price to pay for a half decent battery that at least works in one psp.
Thanks for your input - I've got an original Sony 2200mh on order so here's hoping that works! Do you know if any of the fake slim batteries work ok? And do fake slim batteries work in phats? It seems strange that batteries work on one platform only.
As far as I can see, a slim should work in a fat but then the dimensions of the actual battery would mean that it's difficult to get it out again!
I believe, by the way that there are numerous problems of making a slim battery (real or fake) into pandora. So then in summary - keep the fat for pandorising etc! Oh by the way if you get a legit Sony fat, it should go in the slim ok and you can then buy a new battery casing cover that will hold a fat battery in. I'm not sure hat there is any real point though as I believe the battery life is not extended in the slim by doing this. PM me when you get yourself sorted - I'd love to know how you get on and I'll keep you posted my side ;-)
