Ive just got a 360 but don't have a connection available for online. Is there a way I can download demos etc using a PC and then transfer them with a memory stick or something?

You can make a silver account online if you have a computer and tv in the same room. Goto the computer with your 360 and unplug cable from PC and plug it into xbox a download all you want. This is the only way unless your xbox is modded. Then you could download torrent demos. XBL site also offers their updates with instructions on how to make a disk for updating.
