I had a thought while showering yesterday about wii's being bricked.
When i mod my wii, a NTSC (U) one, and I decide that I will never go online to play/update, in theory, as along as I never play games out of (U) region and never update incorrectly.. my wii should not brick right?

if i decide to go online.. and update a modded wii, should i update all the way to 3.2 (U) or should i take it easy and go through each of the updates? And after im at 3.2(U), and as long as I play (U) games, im basically immune from bricking my wii.. right? =x

Thanks for your time, opinion and comments.

thought Id answer this while taking a load off. Your best bet is to always keep your wii updated with your regions most current firmware. and when using a out of region game use brick blocker just to be safe. check the sticky about avoiding bricking your wii for more info.

I was just shaving my balls when it came to me, You don't have to worry about bricking anything as long as you don't perform an update from a game that isn't from your region. For now, there are no updates online that have anything to do with bricking your wii. You're safe to update all day long online and you'll have to in order to play some games.

ooohh.. okay thanks everyone. but.. why play other region games.. if you risk bricking your lovely wii?.. other than of course games not released in your own region.. so basically brickblock all games in regions not in your own?

that and make sure your wii is updated with its regions current firmware, some games released in other regions arent released in ntsc, others are released months before the ntsc versions

You need to relax.

The only thing that will brick your wii is a firmware update of a different region. E.g., JP firmware on US wii. And the only chance that is going to happen is saying "yes" when prompted by an out-of-region game to update your firmware.

Not all games contains updates, however. Games which requires the latest firmware to play will make sure your wii is updated to that version before running.

Applying WiiBrickBlocker (WBB) to the ROM image of a game before burning it will remove any updates on it. You will not see a prompt for update when running a disc that has been burned from a WBB processed image.

However, without required update, your wii may not be able to play that game. After all, it carries an update for a reason. The solution is to update your wii online. This way your wii will be updated with the latest firmware in the correct region group.
