Xbox 360 sees huge sales spike in UK

According to Chart-Track, the Microsoft Xbox 360 saw a 40 percent sales jump in the UK following the Europe-wide price cut last week.
Says Chart-Track director Dorian Bloch, "Xbox 360 is up 35-40 percent - that's from Friday, when the price cut came into effect, up to midnight Saturday."

wow first 2 post are people in here bashing xbox. Have you nothing better to do. Personally I dont care. I've owned both. Got rid of the PS3 cause could't afford a good enough TV to enjoy the quality of the games, and selection of games wasn't there yet. Got a 360 cause the games were more appealling. Both have there ups and downs. PS3 is so advanced by the time you can afford the HD tv to go with it, they'll have a new one out. 360 was made for the technology thats here and now, but will falter in the future. Again about the time the new model is ready. Xbox did do something that was admirable though. Mostly cause of crappy hardware it's true but, extended their warrenty. I'd like to see how many other manufactors would extend or even exchange their product wether it was manufactors fault or not.
Anyway, haters get a life. Wether you hate sony or microsoft, quit bein so mad it's ok that your mom didn't show you enough love or that your priest molested you. Just remember what the shrink said "it's not your fault, they are the ones that have a problem."

Frankly, I'm impressed that the price point for the arcade version has dropped even cheaper than the Wii. If MS can hold out with this price, then they may be able to close the gap with Sony, who has outsold them for the past 2 months. Pushing consoles is really what it is all about. Even though in the end the low end MS lacks more than the low end PS3, pushing out consoles will push out games. The Dad who gets his kids a cheap XBOX 360, will probably get COD 4 for himself to experience the power that it has to offer. You don't need a robust machine to put a disc in and have fun with a game. Wii has had it right all this time. (attempting to get the comments on topic)
And about my first comment. It was a joke and to many, probably inappropriate. I apologize. Did I have anything better to do? No, lol. Got home from a 14 hour work day, the kids and Mrs. were sleeping, I had a couple of drinks and was bored before bed - cause I don't have any good PS3 games yet :P If people have really been "watching me lately" (queue Rockwell in the background) they would see that I'm more anti-corporation than anti MS alone. After 2 years of waiting to buy a console and testing both extensively, I chose what I thought was the lesser of two evils for my particular lifestyle. Of late, I've been poking fun at MS. But I also get a good laugh when people throw around comments about the PS3. So again, I apologize for what I guess was perceived to be the beginnings of a "flame war." Rest assured it was all in good fun. I'll refrain from anymore of those jokes, as it seems people are still extremely sensitive about their console...enough so that they can't just ignore it.
Ok - off to work for the man now. Good day to all!

i love my wii dont get me wrong but i also LOVE my xbox. i dont understand why the hate for xbox? yeah the ps3 is sexy too dotn get me wrong but come now, the game selection is far better on the xbox than it is on the wii.

I think MS has learned from toshibas failure and theyre going to be extra agressive against sony, since they have such a bussines momentum going out victorius from blu-ray campaign, the arcade version being that cheap really puts PS3 in a tough spot.

X360 games still need a HD TV to look good you know... As to more games on the X360, i agree, so your reason to get rid of the PS3 for games seem to be a logical one.
As to MS's decision to extend the warranty to three years (Red Rings only), calling it admirable is simply WRONG! First of all, it should not happen, i.e. there shouldn't be an extended warranty! Get it? It's more admirable if they don't have to offer it...
As to exchanging a defective X360 for another one, it's also ridiculous to call it a good generous gesture. First off, you're not guaranteed to get a new unit back. Secondly, again, it should not happen or at least not the 2nd or 3rd time.
I'm glad that the price cut is doing well in UK, but like someone from UK said, the Euro is more than the dollar, so the price cut is not really a price cut when comparing how much the X360 costs in the US.
I don't hate X360, but it's hard to embrace everything... Think about it, why should you pay like $3-5 a month to play on-line? why should you have to pay extra $$$ for wireless adapter?

are the sallaries the same in the us and in europe?
are electronic devices the same?
the food costs the same?
does clothing cost the same?
whenever you go out of the us, youŽll realize nothing costs the same, as well as people dont earn the same ammount of money, you want to talk about abuse, how about this, here in mexico youŽd be a front office manager in a five star hotel in los cabos mexico (which is suposed to be one of the best destinations and ery exclusive), and they would pay you 2000 usd a month, and $ony, is tagging the ps3 in 650usd in their official sony store online, that is Crazy!

That 40% number is misleading, the numbers, I believe, were 10,000 units sold previously to 14,000. So, just a little market spin my Microsoft.
