hi,
i dont know if i am in the right forum here but the problem is as follows,

i have just purchased bo selecta series 2 on dvd and am trying to back it up and dvd-r using dvdshrink, i have never had a problem b4 but when shrink analyses the disk it is 11.4gb long and the only way i can get it to fit is by selecting still image!!!
now i know it is not possible to be 11.4 gb so i think there is some kind of protection somewhere and was wondering if anyone has got round this?
also when i use smart ripper to rip the disk the file size is 7.8gb but when i use dvd shrink to the ripped file on my hdd it still comes up with the same 11.4gb?????
sorry for the long post but i really need to get round this.
thanks in advance.

gaz69,

I've seen Disney movies that "gain space" when you open up the movie in re-author - stay with DVDShrink in it's standard mode (stay away from re-author) and you'll be fine.

i have examined the disc and have found that the same episodes are repeated upto 4 times to make the disc bigger!

what do i use to remove these duplicate files?

i didn't go into reauthor but upon doing so i can select the episodes i want minus the duplicates but then i lose my menu screen????!!!!

gaz69,

Whenever you use Shrink in the re-author mode you lose your menus - you won't need them though you can leap chapters to chapter just not OVER chapters. If you wish to keep menus use TMPG DVD Author. You just have to set the default first action for the menu.

gaz69,

Those duplicate files have parts of scenes in them - I ask again, why not just compress in Shrink basic mode?

Then go back into that file with Shrink and squeeze again ??

thanks scube!
:)
i done it!
all i did was shrink the original file and DVD Shrink told me the file was 7.6gb too long for disc but when i checked folder i created it was only 5.4 gb so i compressed it again a little! DVD Shrink said it still to big for disc at 6.3 gb but in fact the actual size was only 4.2 gb??? so i used Nero to burn it and it worked.

thanks again for your help.
