Hi all,
I have this major problem with XP not being able to load the drivers for both the DVD-ROM and CD-RW devices. This problem occured AFTER I tried to burn some image files to CDs and I've been trying to fix it for the last few days but to no avail.
Here's a screen capture of what the it shows so if anyone knows anything at all, PLEASE let me know as I'm just about to lose it after so many failed attempts just trying to fix it.
(the SCSI driver is from DAEMON TOOLS... so as you can see even DAEMON TOOLS can't emulate a drive there)
-tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the devices, didn't work.
-tried the same thing with NERO, didn't work.
-made sure that the IMAPI is set to disable or manual, didn't work.
-my ASPI driver is v.4.60 and when i tried to install v.4.71 it showed the following :
so... what's up with that?
any input would be appreicated, thanks guys.
oh and by the way, everything worked PERFECTLY before and it only started to get funky after i tried to burn those darn image files to CDs........

Uninstall Daemon Tools then reboot your pc. Examine your first snapshot and in Device Manager> DVD\CD-ROM Drives>highlight your Litey& Toshiba>right click>uninstall>reboot. Go back to Device Manager>DVD\CD-ROM and see if your Litey & Toshiba have yellow question marks. Hopefully this does the trick...Have you installed WindowsXP SP1?

thanks guys
i've been trying to get XP SP1a for awhile now but for some reason it keeps saying that my product key is invalid... but the CD is just a backup of the original XP CD(it's somewhere in the many boxes that occupy my room)so i don't know what the problem is there.
as for the ASPI problem... i'm not an expert but i think it's v 4.60...

Regarding the product key, that means your key is invalid, not the CD hehe.
About the ASPI, fire up Nero InfoTools, goto ASPI tab and select System ASPI from the dropdown and make sure all four entries have the EXACT SAME VERSION number.

hmmmm.... my key eh? :-)
yeah i checked and they're all the same version...
as you can see it seems okay, so maybe i don't need to install the latest version, which is 4.71a2? or should i? and the thing is that i DID try to install the newer version but all i got was the aforementioned problem... where the program couldn't find the path to install the drivers to, as seen in pic2 of my first post.
oh and i did a little system restore the other day and got everything back to normal again, so that's great, but i'd still like to know what caused the confict between nero and xp pro, if any. or maybe i should just use other program to burn images to CDs, then.
