I recently bought a refurbished KHS-400C laser to replace my old 400B laser that was in my V3 PS2. I was having a problem where my system couldn't read the Swap Magic 3.6 DVD (could read the CD). It would get stuck on the blank tracks on the disc.

I've put the laser in and have tested it out but the system still can't read my Swap Magic DVD, but it can read all normal things (incld Swap Magic CD). I know its not a bad disc because I've tried the disc on newer versions of the PS2 (V7) and it reads flawlessly.

So my question is, what other things could be wrong with my system that would make it not read a Swap Magic DVD? I'm almost tempted to just get a used V7 at this point.

Thanks

On a V3 I am not sure how well Swap Magic 3.6 works with it.
All I can suggest is use your SM 3.6 CD to load your SM 3.6 DVD and see if it works.

Well that doesn't work either, the system can't read the DVD at all, it gets stuck on the funky null-tracks on the disk and won't read past it. Swap magic cd + cd loader + dvd-9 toc change doesn't seem to work either. I think i really do need to have the DVD working to play DVD games.

I just got too thinking the KHS-400C laser is not for a V3 PS2.
I don't think you can just change it like that without using some program called lenschanger or adjusting something.
I could be wrong, but I don't think so.

You would be better off I think to go with a V7 anyway for backups etc.
