Hello i have had my wii connected online since i bought it via the wi-fi usb with the 1.06 "or whatever the vista working one is" i got my wii chipped yesterday and thought id just test to make sure the connection is fine now im getting many many errors when testing the connection, it shows 3 green bars but says it cant connect to the internet, sometimes it even connects to the internet and begins to update but i get limited internet activity messages and get dced from the net and msn and also cannot browse!, basically im all out of ideas and would really appreciated help more then you would know going insane here.
Thanks in advance also there is a chance it has nothing at all to do with me chipping it and most likely, not i can connect online with ds still.

Check to make sure the wires to the WiFi antenna PCB board are still connected.
There are 2 of them...

The Wii has built in wireless capability. Have you tried to connect to another wifi connection at another location.
Alternatively, if you have a wireless router, broadcast your SSID and make it unsecured and see if the wii connects then.
If it cannot retrieve an IP address it sounds like the DHCP server is not working. Check your settings.

going to describe the reoccuring problems with pictures as i know i find it alot easier to see things
1: this is just after successfully completing the installing with the latest vista compatible version "note the limited connectivity"

2: network connections tab, note both connections shows have "automatically detect ip and dns address" and also file sharing is ticked on the top one.

3: I open up a wifi ds game, go too wifi setup choose the usb option and it tells me to grant the user access which i successfully do, then it says successful and promps me to do a connection test and i click ok, i instantly get 3 green full bars on the ds and on the wifi config tool then out of no where it drops down to red and drops completely off the registration tool following on the ds is a error code 52003 "unable to obtain ip address confirm that the nintendo wifi usb connecter is functioning properly.
and yes i can connect to hot spots in town and all that sort of thing fine, thanks for reading and please keep the help coming.

I am unfamiliar with Vista and do not wish to use it. It does sound like a firewall problem. The handshake is getting through and allowing you to connect, but then something from your PC end is terminating the connection.

Any chance you can roll back your operating system to a time before this started occuring.... as stated before, not familiar with Vista.
Have you changed your modem/router to rule out drop outs as you now claim msn and webpage errors.

I see a few possibilities here. First off, the USB wifi device is recommended for use with WinXP only -- there have been numerous reports of shady performance with Vista. Not that it can't work, but some people are reporting issues with it.
second, you may be in an area that just got more into the 21st century. ie. one of your neighbors just got wireless or a new router. the wifi adapter uses 802.11b/g technology, which, while good, is susceptible to other wireless G and N signals. 802.11g can really get messed up by other signals in the area...especially 802.11n signals. n signals, if not properly set up, will basically wreck havoc for G users. and while wireless-n thrives on crowded signals, wireless-g does not.
also, on that note, check your router and make sure that the wan signal is getting to the computer properly in the first place.

ive managed to successfully connected after restarting with the usb plug in so i guess the signal is reaching it now, but then it plays havoc with my connectivity and ability to browse, there is no wifi next door that would be affecting me, so still looking for help please and thanks for the words so far.
