I recently played and thoroughly enjoyed Silent Hill Origins on my PS2. I run the exploit with an HDD, but that is not important.
I liked it so much that I wanted to play the first one, for PSX. The only copy I could find was a PAL version. I know how to play PS1 backups on my console. I do not know what to use to turn my PAL game into an NTSC game. My copy boots to the Sony screen, and it says Sony Corp. Europe, or something like that. I have been to megagames.com to look at converters, but nothing I tried has worked.
I would greatly appreciate any help I could get, guys! Thanks in advance.
I have been down that road too and nothing seems to work, my advice to you is try and get an ntsc version, have you tried www.emuparadise.org
Incidentally, how do you play ps1 backups on you ps2?
I have a v7 fat and the exploit doesn't seem to work and i don't have a hdd, so how did you build your exploit and what version is your ps2?
As I write this, i am working with an NTSC copy of Silent Hill!! Hard to find! This negates my first question.
EDIT - The following method does not work for me, by the way, just tried to run SH and it got stuck on the Sony load screen...
As to playing backup PS1 games on the PS2, it goes like this:
1 Boot up the PS2 with no disk.
2 Goto the file browser screen.
3 Insert any ORIGINAL PS1 game, let the PS2 recognize it.
4 Use the slide tool trick to eject the game, and insert your backup.
5 Press X to boot the game.
6 Enjoy!
As for making the exploit work, you Really need a retail copy of Action replay max. Exploitstation.com has a great tutorial on how to make it work. You REALLY need Action Replay to make it work.
I had a copy of SH that never boots - maybe bad copy.
I thought i saw it on emuparadise.org and i know it's on fulldls.com
check em out.
Hey thanks for the info i will try.
ilcmdme, I just had a look at fulldls.com, and the first 3 links on the homepage went straight to "warezquality.com", a known phishing and malware site. I would not recommend that sort of place to anyone!
I wouldn't recommend it either but have you tried emuparadise.org?
I tried the psx original slide swap method but it stopped at the ps logo screen, i tried it with two discs. I gotta find another way coz i didn't get to finish RE: Directors Cut (Dual Shock version) - I have a V7 PS2 by the way.
Hey, I just remembered, if you've got utorrent try searching for SH through it, it'll find it.
Good Luck
I'm trying to play the NTSC version of Silent Hill for the PSX but I heard from different sites that the swap will NOT work for PS2 below V9. Is that absolutely true? If not, how with my V7? I'm using the FMCB 1.6 with Ulaunch 4.25
I still haven't figured that out yet either. I too have a v7 ps2, tried the swap trick and got stuck at ps logo screen - so it doesn't work but i saw this dude do it on youtube, coz when he swapped i heard his lense making the same noise mine did so i plan to try again.
I also got a psx elf, but it only works for v9 ps2.
I'm beginning to think nothing of megagames.com works.
Those Utube idiots are all using V9's and some don't even know it. The sad fact is that all PS2's V1-V8 all do the same thing. There's a 2nd check on the PS1 splash screen to verify that the game is legit. I KNOW this already... but I thought, surely by now, someone might have figured out a different way.
I thought of that and it didn't make sense to me the first time, but now it does coz that's what the psone console does.
I used this swap trick on my old psone where you start with ps1 disc (original), then swap with backup, then swap with original and finally with backup - cudos to Wizzdome.
Now that you pointed that out, i'm gonna sit with a few friends and see what we can come up with.
