Do Wii torrents work without modchip?

I'm confused! am considering giving all my hard earned to the man for a new wii; can I download wii games via torrents, burn and use OR do I need to soldier/modchip?

Thanks for that, I see other posts all pretty well saying the soldier bit is not for the inexperienced, so unless there is a painless 'click-fit' chip that is foolproof, (I suspect not!) I'll stick to the PSP and pay 'the man' for official games!

Ok but on the subject of the PSP. It can be hacked easily - no solder or opening at all - and games for that are easy to grab and run. You should visit that section because if you aren't running custom firmware on your PSP you are missing a great deal.

Custom PSP firmware in place, and loads of great games already grabbed! I really wanted to know if Wii modding/homebrews was just as easy!

Homebrew is in it's infacy on the Wii. There are clip-in solutions which have just hit the market. New Wiis (D2C) can be modded using the wii-clip. Just need to choose the right chip ...and some places are offering presoldered clip-in solutions.

Dang... thats just not right.

Spend the $80 (or $140 for newer units) and have it modded professionally. The games will pay for themselves if you want to obtain them in the method you have described above.
