This is the error messege I get when trying to backup DVD's. It used to work fine, now I make expensive coasters. I have windows xp. Using Nero Ultra 7, DVD Shrink, DVDfab or DVD decrypter fixVTS. Thanks for any help

Ok this may be a dumb question, but do I have to uninstall anything before I update my firmware to 1.22? Or does it just overwrite itself? I have never done this before (obviously). Thanks again. Ok I just went ahead and did it and this is the message I get "Available target is not found". Any ideas?
Also this problem seems to have started when I installed a game with securom on it. I have removed securom from my pc, but still can't burn. How can I tell what speed I am burning at? And how can I change it?

Edit you original post to remove your serial number.
You should be able to just install the firmware update right over top of the existing. This may improve what your burner thinks of those Sony discs.
As far as setting your burn speed, you should have a screen similar to this:

it still won't work. I'm at a loss. My burner liked those discs just fine a week ago....I can't get the firmware installed it says "available target is not found"

I think you are going to have to switch to another brand.
The power calibration error is saying that the burner cannot figure how to write to these disks.
If you cannot update the firmware, try some 'Verbatim' disks to see if it makes a difference.

What are verbatim discs? You know what's funny. My pc is a Sony! Thats why I buy Sony discs, thought they would be more "compatible" but I guess not.
So you don't think that having SecuROM on my pc had anything to do with my burner suddenly being weird? It is just coincidence?
Update: I just burned a cd fine. The cd's are also sony discs...hmmm.

Ok I bought some Memorex DVD's today and it still won't work. Kind of annoying. Here is my error

I tried installing the new drivers for my burner but that won't work either. I get "cannot find target" or something similar. So, if anyone can help me I would really appreciate it. I will even send you a puppy in about 12 weeks lol.
