i downloaded a few movies (DVDrips) from the torrents. these torrents showed AC3 as sound.after converting(transcoding) these movies into dvd video using nero 7 i burnt these onto dvd.when using nero 7 i used the audio format as dolby digital 5.1. but when i play these on my HT system, i vocals are heard in all the front three speakers instead of only the front centre.

can anyone please tell me whats wrong?????????

You should not download, unless you pay for it, but since you have them already to answer your question.
AC3 does not mean 5.1 only, it could be stereo to begin with. Since it is a download, it could be stereo, because the file is much smaller than 5.1.
If you convert to DVD using Nero, it will not encode 5.1, it will re encode to stereo.

i'm sorry if i gave the impression that i convert these files in dvd using nero 7. but actually i convert these avi, xvid, divx files using super. and once these are converted into dvd i use nero 7.
but i'm sure that ac3 means 5.1 channels. since front centre speaker is the dedicated speaker for vocals in any movie, i'm not getting vocals only in front centre speaker, i'm getting the vocals in all the three front speakers.

plzz someone tell me how to solve this problem and get vocals only in the front centre speaker.

regards

If you think AC3 is only 5.1 read this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ac3

You can download GSpot(free app) to check your files. It will tell you all about content of the file. Audio and video type, plus more.

Right. AC3 is just a codec for audio compression. It can by used on any audio from mono to 7.1 channel.
