I use dvdshrink 3.2 to rip dvds in my collection to convert for use (using handbarke)on my Walkman. This has been working fine - I've gotten to grips with reauthoring etc.

However, I bought a few Japanese anime titles recently which DO have an english language soundtrack, but Japanese is selected by default and I haven't been able to either select english or alternatively japanese soundtrack with english subtitles.

I've googled and searched this forum without success, as well as browsing dvdshrink guides and just generally tinkering. I'm sure I must be missing something glaringly obvious, but I just can't see it - any help will be much appreciated.

Is it that DVD Shrink is not showing or not saving the checked tracks, or that the burned disk lacks the choices.

Sorry, maybe I didn't explain clearly.

I'm not burning a backup disk, I'm using dvdShrink to rip the movie and then using hanbrake to convert the output TS files to Mpeg4 format for my video walkman.

Having said that, as per your picture under the audio heading it gives 2 tick boxes (both "AC3 2-ch English) and under the Subpicture heading it just gives a tickbox for English.

But, when I rip using these settings and then convert to mp4 I only get the Japanese language track! Using this method does the first audio track get rendered by default? (ie if I uncheck the first English box under the audio heading (which may be the Japanese track?) do you think I would only have the second English track which is actually English?)

Thanks for your interest,

R

In DVD Shrink, select 'Re-author', drag 'title 1' from right to left side of window.
Right click on 'title 1' and choose 'set start/end frames'.
Select a small part of the movie where people are talking, then click on 'Compression Settings' on the right hand window and choose one language.
Backup the clip to a new folder (this should only take a few seconds) and verify the language that you get.

Many thanks - that advice has enabled me to create a file that has English language on the walkman.
