What is the best modchip for my slim PS2?
The model is NTSC-J SCPH-70006 CB.
I need a modchip that can play DVD5 and DVD9 original and backup games and be able use Action Replay Max Evo too.
Will modding my PS2 shorten it's life span?

Looks like you have a V14 ps2. You don't need a laser fix with this model, so that's a good thing. Most mod chips now can play DVD5 and DVD9 no problem. As for the action replay Max, I am not sure which chip supports that. Don't know where you are located, but the only chips I can get a hold of are:

Duo 3 Ultra
Chipmod 2.0
Crystal Chip 1.0

Modding your ps2 should not affect the function of the ps2 at all. So no, it won't shorten it's life span.

There's a another option open to you it's a memory card fitted with a modchip which can be upgraded when new firmware gets made,can't say what it performs like, tho if the game compatiblity list is anything to go by it looks pretty good,both a friend & i are thinking of getting one the only prob is it will depend on how soon the firmware upgrade for nz will be comming

EDIT: Can't say if replay max is able to e used with it,but considering it's a chip that i assume is recent it should be able to run it
