Supposedly the new firmware allows one to stream movies from a web page
"-- PS3 system's Internet browser will be enhanced: Video files directly
linked from a Web page will be able to be streamed, and the browser's
view speed will be improved." (from http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/20/ps3-f...ray-this-mont/)

However I tried using HFS file server 2.2d and when I click on my video file it says HTTP 505 error occured. yet if i copy the file to PS3 it works fine

has anyone been able to stream movies directly to PS3 via a file server (without using Tversity, I dont want to re-encode...)

the firmware version before allowed you to stream but at bad quality(for me anyway). I had to download this program can't remember what it was called but it isn't worth it, the video is poor quality and not full screen.
