I've tried to rip and burn disc 2 of "Hitler The Rise of Evil" using two separate discs. Disc 1 burned without a problem. I used AnyDVD and DVD Shrink but the disc hung up at 40% ripped. When I tried using DVD XCopy Platinum, the hang-up was at 70%. Both discs looked perfect, no scratches or other marks. I also tried RipIt4Me with the same results. Are there any answers out there?

If you have DVD shrink, 3.2, then you should try clicking the BACKUP BUTTON on DVD Shrinks Interface. Otherwise your DVD may be faulty, or the drive might have a problem with it!

Hint: Try on a friends computer, or get a lens cleaner if you thing a computer drive is the Problem

B.C. :Thanks for your help!!

The lock-up occurs at 41% analysing and comes up with an error that shuts down DVD Shrink. I used two separate Disc 2's on two different computers with the same result. I also used DVD XCOPY Platinum and Ripit4me, all failed in the same manner. I wonder if both discs could be corrupted.

Try something better such as DVDFab HD Decrypter (free) - http://www.dvdfab.com/free.htm or make sure AnyDVD is up to date

Try cleannig your dvd+r/-r/rw drive with a lens cleaner from dollarama. It works on cd players too!

Or get a multiuse cloth thats dry from them and use it on the disk.

As a last resort, see if the library has it and copy their version of it.

P.S. Does it still work in your dvd player?

You may want to edit your previous post. No piracy here.

I'm with Creaky, get the newest free version of DvdFab Decrypter and try ripping it there. If full disc is what's hanging up, try doing movie only.

That isn't an option on this forum and isn't acceptable advice.

I played the DVD and about 65% into the disc the picture and sound stops and then goes and continues in this manner. I cannot see any dirt or scratches on the disc.

Could be yet another case of a bad press. Try exchanging the disc from where you purchased it and try again.

I got a third copy and guess what, the same thing happened. Then I figured I would try something different. I used AnyDVD in conjunction with Plato DVD Ripper obtained free from giveawayoftheday and it worked. The disc copied but contained some of the errors of the original. It was watchable so the problem was solved. How? I don't know.

If the backup contains errors that really isn't a good working copy then right?

Try ripping with DVDFab HD Decrypter and then process with FixVTS and then import to DVD Shrink and see if you get the same freeze up.

It would be nice if it worked. I used DVD FabHD Decrypter. It analyzed the disc successfully and started the copy process which stopped at 48.02% copied; the copy rate went from greater than 8 MB/s to about 2.2 MB/s. At that point a "Reading/writing error control" message came up where the options were retry, abort, ignore and ignore all. Nothing selected got me beyond 48.6% copied. The result was the same as using DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter or DVD XCopy Platinum. It's hard to believe that I got three bad pressings but that's what it seems to be.
